Two years ago, Gov. Jackson Mandago suspended the sub-division of land in the county to allow the drawing up of a master plan that would guide the county’s real estate and property development. The move was primarily aimed at placing checks and balances against the mutilation of agricultural land for purposes of real estate development–a temptation largely motivated by increasingly attractive land prices.

While in his home turf of Uasin Gishu, Ruto who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta once his term comes to an end pledged to set aside sh.100 billion to facilitate agro-processing, value addition, and manufacturing that would help create more jobs for the youths. This will continue to expand the economy and enhance the real estate market in Uasin Gishu if implemented.

Roads in Uasin Gishu

The County Government of Uasin Gishu with funding from the Kenya Development Support Programme has made significant strides in improving road connectivity in most rural areas at a cost of Sh102 million. Roads, Transport, and Public Works Chief Executive Gideon Birir said the County has managed to construct nine bridges and box culverts in various places in the area. Seven of them are complete, and seven have been handed over for use. He said the connectivity programs aim to open up new agricultural production areas and enable farmers to access markets for their produce. The construction sector in Uasin Gishu

One of the major construction projects in Uasin Gishu has been the construction of the Eldoret town bypass project. The bypass has decongested traffic in Eldoret town as well as opened up the county for business. Also, as part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the country, construction of an estimated Ksh 1 billion Uasin Gishu County Government and World Bank-funded state-of-the-art 20,000 capacity seater 64 Stadium in Eldoret town is almost complete. The multi-billion shillings project which is one of the flagship projects for Governor Jackson Mandago was projected to be completed within 15 months. The department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works and Eldoret Municipality work jointly to inspect the ongoing exercises at the site to ensure quality work and timely completion of the project.
