Kenya National Highway Authority is set to construct a new road from Wikililye in the suburbs of Kitui town through the Katulani-Nthwake dam up to Wote town in Makueni. According to Kitui County Commissioner Mbogai Roba, this major 86km road will connect the two county headquarters of Kitui and Makueni. The government has allocated 1.95 billion to construct Mkiyuni bridges along Sultan Hamud-Kasikeu-Kyambeke road that traverses Kilome and Kaiti constituencies in Makueni County.
